1883 Season 2 Release Date: The Bass Reeves Story, a new limited series starring Taylor Sheridan, will be a continuation of the Yellowstone spinoff 1883, according to a May 18 announcement from Paramount+.
Bass Reeves, the famed 19th-century lawman of the Wild West, will be portrayed in the series by Golden Globe contender David Oyelowo. 1883 examined the journey taken by the first Dutton ranchers to Montana, where they founded the renowned Yellowstone ranch. It portrays the hard living and lawlessness of the time and stars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill as pioneers James and Margaret Dutton.
1883 Season 2 Plot
The plot of 1883 Season 2 has not yet been disclosed by Paramount. We won’t see the same storylines as in 1883, though, as 1883: The Bass Reeves Story isn’t a direct sequel to the original series.
If the miniseries is set in the year it is named after, the story would begin eight years into Bass Reeves’ tenure as U.S. Marshall. We’ll simply have to wait and see what tales Taylor Sheridan decides to share on the show.
1883 Season 2 Cast
In Season 2 of 1883, British actor David Oyelowo will portray the title character. The accomplished actor, who has a number of film and television credits to his name, previously played Martin Luther King Jr. in the historical drama Selma (2014).
His notable roles include those in Queen of Katwe (2016), Jack Reacher (2012), Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011), and The United Kingdom. He was nominated for a Golden Globe and an Emmy for his performance as Peter Snowden in the 2014 television movie Nightingale.
He appeared in several television shows, including Les Misérables (2018–2019) and Star Wars: Rebels (2014–2018). He most recently played the lead in The Girl Before (2021).
Cole Hauser, who starred in the movie Yellowstone Rip, has reportedly joined the cast of 1883 Season 2. Whether on purpose or not, Hauser revealed the information when chatting to Entertainment Tonight at the Yellowstone Season 5 launch party.
He politely said “No ma’am” when asked for more information, implying that he is obligated by the terms of the contract to withhold too much information too soon.
We don’t currently have any additional details regarding the cast of 1883: The Bass Reeves Story. But given that the show is based in the same era as the first one, we might recognize some characters from the 1883 world.
1883 Season 2 Episodes
The second season of 1883 will consist of six episodes, according to Paramount+. We may anticipate the episodes to last about an hour based on Taylor Sheridan’s prior works.
According to Deadline, Taylor Sheridan will helm 1883: The Bass Reeves Story’s first two episodes. In addition to the principal actor David Oyelowo and his wife Jessica, the Western storyteller will also work as an executive producer on the program.
Who will be directing the series’ last four episodes are not yet known. Oyelowo did, however, mention that he wishes to appoint a diverse group of directors for the position at the Paramount Plus UK launch event.
1883 Season 2 Release Date
The second season of 1883 has no set date of release. Although the network has given us a tentative release date for the new season, it seems they have not yet made a choice.
The “next chapter” of 1883 will debut in the latter half of 2022, Paramount+ revealed in February 2022.
However, according to other sources, the show won’t debut until 2023. Given that Tulsa King and Yellowstone Season 5 are already scheduled to debut on November 13, this is the more likely scenario. In addition, the Yellowstone sequel 1923 will also be released in December.
As a result, Paramount Network might wait until the following year to release 1883 Season 2. As soon as we have the official premiere date, we’ll update this section.
