The Kansas City Police Department in Missouri is conducting an investigation into a gunshot that took place early on Saturday morning and left one person dead and another injured.
At around 10:41 a.m., officers went to a report of shots fired at 37th and Prospect, where they discovered an adult male unresponsive and lying on the ground. They also discovered a second victim who had been shot and was sent to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
Ahmed Simmons, 33 years old, was ultimately determined to be the victim who had passed away.
At this moment, there is neither suspect information nor anyone who has been taken into custody.
At the same time that authorities were searching the crime scene, detectives heard the sounds of shots being fired in the neighborhood of 35th Street and Brooklyn Avenue.

According to the investigators, a car whose identity has not been revealed sped away from the location as soon as the bullets were fired.
According to a spokeswoman for the Kansas City Police Department, it is currently unknown whether or not this event is related to the shooting that took place on Friday at a petrol station located on 35th and Prospect.
