A Pickup Driver Is Charged With Causing A Fatal Collision In Ohio One Day After Being Released In Kentucky On Unrelated Charges

According to reports, an Ohio man driving a pickup truck was charged with vehicular murder on Friday in connection with an accident on Interstate 275 that left three people dead.

According to FOX 19, hours after being released on his own recognizance from Kentucky detention on Thursday on a charge unrelated to a domestic violence probation violation, Andrew Blankenship, 29, was detained and lodged into Ohio’s Hamilton County Justice Center.

According to WLWT-TV, a judge determined that he required medical attention for serious but non-life-threatening injuries he sustained in the collision, and officials from both states decided to prevent a drawn-out extradition procedure by arresting him after he was released and treating him in Cincinnati.

According to court records, Blankenship was accused in Ohio with three felony charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and one count of vehicular assault. In addition, more charges are anticipated against him.

A second-degree strangulation accusation in Campbell County, Kentucky, which resulted in his placement on a 5-year pretrial diversion in 2021, was connected to his Kentucky probation violation.

Last Friday, according to the sheriff’s office, Blankenship was driving a pickup truck at a “high rate of speed and without lights on” when he reportedly “lost control” of the vehicle and slammed it into a tow truck that was hauling a wrecked vehicle that was also occupied.
