Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, released in 2010, is the sequel to 2009’s Assassin’s Creed II, starting up directly after its ending.
In this sequel, Ezio Auditore da Firenze returns as a legendary Master Assassin intent on rebuilding the Assassin Brotherhood in Rome by toppling the corrupt Templar dynasty, the Borgia, and ushering in the genuine splendor and wonder of the Renaissance.

In May of 2011, the announcement for the sequel to Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, was made. Revelations were eventually released in November of the same year.

In November 2016, as part of The Ezio Collection for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and in February 2022, for Nintendo Switch, came a remastered version of the game.

It was Ubisoft Montreal that created Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. Montreal, having contributed to the previous two main Assassin’s Creed games, was selected to lead production on the third main game in the series. During Ubisoft’s 2009 fiscal third-quarter results, a new Assassin’s Creed episode with multiplayer was announced without revealing its name. While Ubisoft was promoting the release of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood on Facebook and Twitter in early May 2010, a GameStop employee leaked online some photographs of the pre-order box bearing the game’s title.

Soon after, Ubisoft vouched for the legitimacy of these photos. Unlike Assassin’s Creed II, Brotherhood is not numbered because players (and perhaps the developers) could have expected a new locale and a new ancestor, while in fact, it is simply the continuation of Ezio’s journey.

Although the Canadian studio Ubisoft Montreal was largely responsible for the game’s creation, they were assisted by their colleagues in Annecy, Singapore, Bucharest, and Québec City. Ubisoft Annecy, which also worked on the multiplayer component of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, was primarily responsible for developing the multiplayer mode. Ubisoft has also stated that post-launch DLC will be made available for the game.

While it does make use of the Ubisoft online services platform and the Tagès copy protection system, playing the game is not dependent on having an active Internet connection at all times. A novelization of the game came out on November 30, 2010. The book is the continuation of the series.
