On May 29, Connor Mathis, a 16-year-old autistic student from Glynn Academy, was reported missing to the Georgia State Patrol. Authorities looking for information about the teen’s whereabouts claim that Connor was last seen at Camp Jekyll on Monday afternoon.
When the youngster who was there for the afternoon activities did not show up for a 5 p.m. regroup, camp personnel got concerned. Hundreds of volunteers assisted local, state, and federal law enforcement during a roughly 20-hour search that resulted in the discovery of Connor Mathis’ body on a Jekyll Island beach on Tuesday morning.

The Glynn Academy is offering counseling services to assist the Golden Isles community in coping with the tragic loss of 16-year-old Connor Mathis. In response to his kidnapping, which occurred on Monday afternoon at Camp Jekyll on Jekyll Island during the children’s planned free time, a fundraising campaign has also been launched.
The Georgia State Patrol, which is in charge of upholding law and order on the state-owned island, is handling the investigation into Connor’s de@th. The campers gathered on Monday at around six o’clock for the evening meal.
Connor was noticeably absent. After a lengthy search and rescue operation was conducted following his disappearance, his lifeless corpse was discovered in the surf at the southernmost tip of the island on Tuesday afternoon.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation facility in Pooler received Connor’s body so that the cause and circumstances of his de@th could be looked into. A state police official claims that this information has not yet been released to the general public.
Notably, the incident occurred during a period of increased rip current risks over the Memorial Day holiday weekend on Monday at high tide, around 5 p.m. The authorities have not yet disclosed the reason for Connor Mathis’ de@th.

According to the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, the teen’s bones were found on the Jekyll Island shore. Innumerable volunteers, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, many law enforcement and fire/rescue agencies, and local law enforcement collaborated to discover the missing teen, according to the statement.
The County Sheriff’s Office’s sonar-equipped marine patrol boat was essential in assisting in the discovery of Connor’s remains in the surf off Jekyll Island Beach.
