According to the district, two students were charged with felonies on Monday for allegedly threatening to harm Dublin Scioto High School classmates on the messaging service Discord.
Dublin City Schools informed high school families via email on Monday that Dublin police and district security had been made aware of threats made against Scioto High School via the social media and messaging service Discord.
The district informed parents in emails that two kids had threatened to shoot people, mentioning the high school and the date May 5 in particular. The district declared following the arrests that there was “no reason to believe an increased threat to students or school safety remains.” However, the district had higher security this week as a precaution.
Law authorities spoke with witnesses from the Discord app, where the threat was made, on Saturday night and was able to identify the students involved. Dublin police connected one of the students with mental health supports after getting in touch with them and their family.
