Jonathan Knight Net Worth 2022: Income, Salary, Biography And Net worth(Updated)

Singer and songwriter Jonathan Knight hails from the United States. Jonathan Knight is widely recognized as one of the original members of New Kids on the Block. The self-titled debut album by the pop group went triple platinum in the United States, and the band as a whole sold over 70 million albums worldwide.

In 1994, during the band’s “Face the Music” tour, Knight quit, effectively ending the band for good. The group has won two American Music Awards and been nominated for a Grammy. After New Kids on the Block broke up, Knight didn’t try his hand at show business again; instead, he became a successful real estate developer in his native Florida. He started hosting the HGTV show “Farmhouse Fixer” in 2021.

Early Life

Jonathan Knight was the fifth of six children and was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on November 29, 1968. His mother, Marlene, and father, Allan, were both born and raised in Ontario, Canada. Knight was a lifelong member of the local Episcopal church and its choir. There, along with his younger brother Jordan, they were both discovered for their singing abilities.

Donnie Wahlberg’s younger brother, Jordan, invited Knight to join New Kids on the Block when he was 16 years old. After finding success with groups like New Edition, talent agent Mary Alford was asked by producer Maurice Starr to find the next big boyband.

In addition to Wahlberg and the two Knight brothers, the original five members included Wahlberg’s younger brother Mark, as well as Wahlberg’s friends Jamie Kelly and Danny Wood. Mark and Jaime left the group after a few months, and 12-year-old Joey McIntyre was brought in to replace them.

NKOTB Success

Starr oversaw the band’s after-school and weekend practices, and they were known as Nynuk before being signed to Columbia Records, who insisted they change their name to New Kids on the Block (NKOTB). Starr did his best, but the group’s 1986 self-titled debut album failed to make waves. Also, check out, Jaime Xie

NKOTB’s second album saw the band members taking more of an active role in shaping the music, in an effort to distance themselves from producer Ringo Starr’s signature bubblegum-pop style. In 1988, they dropped the single “Please Don’t Go Girl,” which peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Their second album, “Hangin’ Tough,” was boosted by the success of this single, and the album’s singles received increased airplay on MTV and increased exposure from the band’s concert circuit.

The band traveled all over the world, stopping in places like the United States, Europe, and Asia. As the band toured in support of their fourth album, “Face the Music,” Knight began experiencing anxiety and eventually decided to leave.

Other Works

Knight has found success in his professional life after leaving NKOTB by pursuing endeavors unrelated to the music business. After its release, a lengthy tour across the United States, Canada, and some of Europe ensued, and the album reached the top spot on Billboard’s Top Pop Albums chart. Lady Gaga and Natasha Bedingfield were their tour mates.

In addition to supporting acts like the Backstreet Boys, Jordin Sparks, 98 Degrees, Boyz II Men, TLC, and Nelly on their world tours, the band continued touring the world themselves. A star was placed in honor of them on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2014.

In 2019, NKOTB unveiled a music video for “Boys in the Band (Boy Band Anthem),” a track that serves as a tribute to many different successful boy bands throughout history. Members of other boy bands such as New Edition, N-Sync, and Naughty by Nature all made cameo appearances in the video.
