After a guy was “beaten to death by another man’s hands outside of restaurant,” Boebert says she got a concealed carry permit and started pushing for open carry among the restaurant’s staff.
In 2013, a man who had allegedly been involved in a brawl several blocks away fled to within a block of Boebert’s restaurant before collapsing and dying from a methamphetamine overdose, contradicting the claim about the man.
Across the street from Shooters Grill, the Boeberts also ran the defunct Smokehouse 1776. Boebert opened Putters, a restaurant at Rifle Creek Golf Course, in 2015. In the middle of 2016 she decided to sell it.
After eating pork sliders at a temporary facility set up by Shooters Grill and Smokehouse 1776 during the 2017 Garfield County fair, 80 fairgoers fell ill. Because of improper food handling during the event, the Garfield County health authorities concluded that they lacked the proper permissions to run the temporary facility.
