Cuban-American rapper and songwriter Pitbull. It’s safe to say that Pitbull is one of the most well-known musicians in the world right now. He also runs his own business and endorses a wide variety of products.
Armando Christian Perez (Pitbull) was born on January 15, 1981, in Miami, Florida, to Cuban immigrants. His mother raised him when his parents divorced when he was young, but she eventually threw him out of the house when he became 16. While in Georgia, he spent some time with a foster family in Roswell.
Pitbull followed in his father’s footsteps and started dealing drugs. In addition to Miami Coral Park High School, he also went to South Miami Senior High. After finishing school, he decided to pursue a career in rapping under the alias “Pitbull.”
Luther Campbell’s Luke Records signed him in 2001. Pitbull started working with Lil Jon when his contract with Luke expired. Pitbull’s first mainstream recording appearance was as a guest rapper on a track from Lil Jon’s “Kings of Crunk” album in 2002. Then Pitbull started dropping mixtapes with new takes on classic rap songs with his own freestyles.
Money Is A Major Issue (M.I.A.M.I. for short) was Pitbull’s first studio album, released in 2004. Lil John was responsible for producing the hit tune “Culo.” On the US Rap chart, it peaked at position #2, while on the Billboard 200, it peaked at position #14. It was the next year that Pitbull and Sean “Diddy” Combs established Bad Boy Latino, a record label dedicated to tropical music with roots in Latin hip-hop and soul.
El Mariel, Pitbull’s second studio album, was released that same year. The US Rap album chart also placed the same album at #2. Since his father had passed away earlier that year, he devoted it to him. There were many politically-minded songs among Pitbull’s usual upbeat party tunes on the album. When Pitbull dropped his 2007 album The Boatlift, his track “Go Girl” reached the top 80 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2009, he released his fourth studio album, Pitbull Starring in Rebelution, which quickly climbed to the top of the US Rap album chart. In 2010, he released Armando, his first full-length album in Spanish. For the Billboard Latin Music Awards that year, he was a nominee.
In 2011, Pitbull released the highly successful album Planet Pit. Hey Baby (Drop It to the Floor), a song he co-wrote with T-Pain, peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. To date, “Give Me Everything” is Pitbull’s only number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100. Also, read about Eric Andre
Again in 2012, with Global Warming, he topped the US Rap album chart. He went on a worldwide tour to promote the album. His hit ballad “Back in Time” was initially written and performed for the movie Men in Black 3. The song borrows from Mickey & Sylvia’s “Love is Strange” from the ’50s. Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez, and Claudia Leitte all sang “We Are One” at the 2014 World Cup opening ceremony. In June 2014, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Additionally, Pitbull has released three more studio albums: 2014’s Globalization (which had the top ten hits “Time of Our Lives”), 2015’s Dale (for which he won the Grammy for Best Latin Rock, Urban, or Alternative Album), and 2017’s Climate Change. Libertad 548, his eleventh studio album, was released in September 2019. Also, read about Rob Schneider
Pitbull has achieved widespread commercial and critical acclaim throughout his career. In addition to “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho),” his other popular hits include “Give Me Everything” (with Ne-Yo, Afrojack, and Nayer), “Feel This Moment” (with Christina Aguilera), “Timber” (with Kesha), and “Time Of Our Lives” (with Ne-Yo). The albums of Pitbull have sold millions of copies all over the world.
A lot of artists have worked with Pitbull since his songs are so catchy and he has so many hit collaborations. In the course of his career, he has worked with a wide variety of musicians, including Jennifer Lopez, Lil John, Shakira, Usher, Diddy, and many more. He has secured two Las Vegas residencies and led six concert tours, as well as played as an opening act for Britney Spears and Enrique Iglesias.
Pitbull has a diverse portfolio of endorsement deals outside of the music industry, notably with Bud Light, Kodak, and Dr. Pepper. When he came out with his own scent collection in November 2013, people took notice. In 2015, he also appeared in a Walmart ad. To add insult to injury, Pitbull is also the main owner and official spokesman for Voli Vodka.
In May of 2015, he debuted Pitbull’s Globalization Radio, a new, curated radio station for Sirius. It features international R&B Hip-hop and Dance/DEM. In 2019, he started working with Boost Mobile, where he produced a series of advertisements meant to “boost,” or increase the brand’s presence in Spanish-speaking regions. In February 2020, he appeared in a Super Bowl ad starring Jennifer Lopez, DJ Khaled, and Steven Van Zandt.
Pitbull and Barbara Alba are the parents of two children. They ended their marriage in 2011. He has two other children, but he hasn’t discussed them with the press.

Pittbull devotes most of his time to helping others. During Hurricane Maria in 2017, he flew sick and injured people from Puerto Rico to the United States mainland aboard his private plane. Originally from Miami, Pitbull has made it his mission to support the local Latino population in the neighborhood of Little Havana.
He has spent a lot of time and energy over the years working toward eliminating the educational divide that contributes to poverty. He founded Little Havana’s first free public charter school for future sports leaders and administrators by naming it Sports Leadership and Management. The initiative has expanded to include not only Miami but also Las Vegas and Atlanta. A whopping 96% of students graduate from there.
