Actress Selma Blair is enduring internet criticism following the virality of an Islamophobic Instagram post she made last week. The remark was made on an Instagram video that Abraham Hamra uploaded a week ago.
In the video, Hamra criticizes two Democratic congresswomen, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Cori Bush of Missouri, for being the lone Democrats to vote against a bill that would have barred immigration to the United States for anyone involved in the Sept. 7 terrorist attack on Israel.
As stated in his Instagram bio, Hamra is a speaker and Jewish refugee from Syria. In the video, he accuses Tlaib of being a “liar,” “moron,” and a “hateful anti-Semite.” He further states that “the truth is, the Jews have been victimized by the Arabs, and not the other way around.”
Defending the measure, the lone Palestinian-American lawmaker Tlaib argued that it was “redundant with already existing federal law.” “It’s just another GOP messaging bill being used to incite anti-Arab, anti-Palestinian, and anti-Muslim hatred that makes communities like ours unsafe,” she added.
After expressing gratitude to Hamra in a remark on the video—which had been published a week prior—the post was later removed. Even before its removal, NBC News had seen the post. No one has said who removed it. These thugs should all be deported for aiding terrorists. Islam has annihilated Muslim nations, and now its adherents are breaking people’s minds in the West, Blair lamented in his essay.
“They are knowingly dishonest.” Cauchy rationalizations. We wish them what’s coming to them. Some users on the social media site X Friday took exception to Blair, a disability rights activist who has an MS diagnosis and is very active in the community. The platform deleted her account on Friday night.
Selma Blair going full speed ahead with bigotry and hate speech was not on my bingo card for 2024 but it’s a reminder that the genocide of Palestinians couldn’t have happened unless a lot of “regular people” had been supporting their horrific oppression for decades. https://t.co/rTd1xrBff8

“Selma Blair going full speed ahead with bigotry and hate speech was not on my bingo card for 2024 but it’s a reminder that the genocide of Palestinians couldn’t have happened unless a lot of ‘regular people’ had been supporting their horrific oppression for decades,” a user told X on Friday.
Even another person criticized Blair, saying that she had “revealing herself to be a raging Islamaphobic bigot.” The comments of Michael Rapaport and Debra Messing, among others, who expressed their support for Hamra’s Instagram video, remain unmoderated.
Blair has not addressed the criticism as of yet because she is Jewish. She has been vocal about her backing of Israel ever since the incident on October 7th. After being asked for comment on Friday night, she took her sweet time to react. For her remarks and deeds about the Israel-Hamas conflict, Tlaib was censured by the House in November.
