Street Fighter 6 Release Date: Is It Releasing This Summer? Capcom previewed Street Fighter 6 earlier this year but held a more comprehensive trailer for Thursday’s State of Play Presentation by Sony. Capcom did not provide a release date, but the fighting game is scheduled to be released in 2023.
The latest Street Fighter 6 teaser reveals the return of veteran fighters Ryu (now entirely beardless and extra broad) and Chun-Li (who has a mostly new look), as well as relative newbies Luke (who debuted in Street Fighter 5’s final downloadable DLC) and Jamie, a brand-new character.
Capcom also displayed what appeared to be a free-roaming 3D component of the game, which could be a new training area. Fighting Ground, which focuses on the conventional fighting game experience with modes from prior games in the series; World Tour, “an immersive single-player story experience”; and Battle Hub, which sounds like a social area for player interactions.
Street Fighter 6 Plot/Story
The most recent gameplay trailer for Street Fighter 6 showcases some gameplay, the newly added fighters Jamie and Luke, as well as several game modes, including World Tour, Battle Mode, and the more classic Fighting Ground.
A demonstration of the new Drive system, which enables players to execute a variety of maneuvers simultaneously while engaged in combat, was also presented to us.
Street Fighter 6 Cast
Street Fighter 5 debuted with 16 playable characters, but after five seasons of additional material, the roster has grown to more than 40.
No one knows if all of these characters will make the transition to Street Fighter 6, but it’s safe to assume that Ryu, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, Ken, and M. Bison will.
Luke, the fifth and final DLC character for Season 5 of Street Fighter V, was released on November 29. Notably, Capcom referred to him as “a look into the future” and stated in the Fall Update video below, “we’ll be back with more information regarding the future of Street Fighter.” Hopefully, additional information will be forthcoming.
Street Fighter 6 Release Date
The sources indicate that the game’s codename is CAPCOM 6, which makes sense. It is also rumored that the game has undergone testing, however, we are unlikely to hear anything for some time. After it was announced that the Capcom Cup 2020 champion would not automatically qualify for the 2021 competition, many believed the game would be released in 2021. This was partially refuted by prolific Capcom leaker Dusk Golem
Later tweets indicated that Midori Yuasa, a corporate executive at Capcom, has assumed leadership of the project, replacing Yoshinori Ono as producer. IGN has confirmed the leaks, and a schedule indicates that Street Fighter 6 will be released in the third quarter of 2022, followed by Super Street Fighter 6 in the fourth quarter of 2023. It appears that an Ultra Street Fighter 6 version will be released in the fourth quarter of 2024. Although sources have confirmed that the game is in production, this chronology may be out of the current.
