Having her first hit, “Delta Dawn,” at the age of 13, Tanya Denise Tucker is an American country music singer and songwriter. Tucker developed into one of the rare child artists who could transition into adulthood without losing their audience over the ensuing decades, and she amassed a string of top-10 and top-40 singles throughout the course of her career.
American vocalist Tanya Tucker performs country music. Born in Seminole, Texas, on October 10, 1958. At the age of 15, Tucker had already released her first song that was nominated for a Grammy Award, and she was one of the first country musicians to be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone. Early in the 1980s, Tucker and fellow country musician Glen Campbell were rumored to be dating.
The couple continued to play live and in recording studios together, and they were frequently spotted having fun in public. Tucker checked herself into the Betty Ford clinic for treatment after she and Campbell got divorced because of her severe drinking and drug use. Despite a period of stagnation in her career, Tucker reappeared in the 1990s, just as country music appeared to be making a resurgence.
Tucker inked a one-time contract with Time-Saguaro Life’s Road Records in 2009. Tanya put off working on her “Lonesome Town” project in order to complete My Turn, her debut cover album, and a June 2009 release that peaked at number 27 on the Billboard country charts. “Love’s Gonna Live Here,” the lead track, was made available as a digital single in addition to being distributed to the radio.
It is a reworking of Buck Owens’ legendary hit. “Wine Me Up,” “Lovesick Blues,” “You Don’t Know Me,” “Ramblin’ Fever,” “Walk Through This World With Me,” “Big Big Love,” “Crazy Arms,” “After The Fire Is Gone,” and “Oh Lonesome Me” are just a few of the timeless country songs on the CD.
Tucker released “Forever Loving You,” a song co-written by Tennessee State Senator Rusty Crowe, her first single since 2009, following the passing of her ex-boyfriend Glen Campbell on August 8, 2017.
The song was released the next day, the day before Campbell’s burial, and received backlash for being opportunistic. The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, according to Tucker, will receive some of the revenues. However, the foundation said it was not a part of the promotion and had not been given any money. 2019 saw the release of Tucker’s first original music since Tanya in 2002, while I’m Livin’, via Fantasy Records. Shooter Jennings and Brandi Carlile worked together to produce the album. Carlile was initially approached by Jennings for songwriting duties, but after expressing his respect for Tucker and her work, Jennings believed it was vital for her to collaborate on the record as a co-producer.
At Loretta Lynn’s 87th birthday all-star concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, Tucker played “Bring My Flowers Now” with Carlile at the piano. On June 28, “Hard Luck,” the first single from the album, and its corresponding music video were made available.

For the songs “Bring My Flowers Now” and “While I’m Livin’,” Tanya Tucker won her first two Grammy Awards on January 26, 2020. On October 16, 2020, Tucker released the live CD Live from the Troubadour. Tucker confirmed that she was collaborating with Carlile and Jennings on a follow-up to While I’m Livin’ in a 2021 interview with Rolling Stone. Tucker made a declaration about the completion of her new album at her 2022 performance at the Stagecoach Festival.
Glen Campbell was the most notable of Tucker’s partnerships with entertainers, lasting from 1971 to 1981. Additionally, she dated Don Johnson, Andy Gibb, and Merle Haggard.
Actor Ben Reed and Tucker later got together, and as a result, they had two children: Presley Tanita (born on July 5, 1989) and Beau “Grayson” (born October 2, 1991).
An on-again, off-again connection has existed between Jerry Laseter, a musician from Nashville, and Tucker. In 1997, they got married for the first time, and then again in 1999. When Tucker learned she was expecting her third child, Laseter’s daughter Layla LaCosta (born June 25, 1999), she called off their wedding just days before it was scheduled to take place. According to Tucker, she did not want to go down the aisle while pregnant and wearing her wedding dress. Tucker’s albums from 2002 (Tanya), 2005 (Live at Billy Bob’s Texas), and 2009 (Tucker) were co-produced by Laseter (My Turn). Robert, one of Tucker’s two brothers, passed away from pneumonia in September 2017. Don is her surviving sibling. La Costa, an artist, is her sister.
