Based on Studio MDHR’s 2017 Canadian video game Cuphead, The Cuphead Show! It is an animated musical slapstick series for Netflix. Wasson Creators Chad and Jared Moldenhauer, along with King Features Syndicate’s Wasson and CJ Kettler, and Cosmo Segurson, who serve as executive producers.
New episodes of Netflix’s The Cuphead Show will be available in just a few days! Cuphead and Mugman (and Ms Chalice!) are back for another season with twelve all-new episodes that will join the original season’s worth of episodes currently available online. Is season 3 of The Cuphead Show in the works, and if so, when can we expect to see it?
This animated slapstick musical comedy series is based on the critically acclaimed indie run-and-gun game created by Studio MDHR. It mimics the rubber hose art style popularised by the golden age of American animation in the 1920s, which gave birth to such icons as Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Elmer Fudd, and many more.
Short Lookout Of The Cuphead Show
The series was given the go-ahead by Netflix in July of 2019. Co-executive produced by Cosmo Segurson and featuring the talents of Chad and Jared Moldenhauer of Studio MDHR, C.J. Kettler of King Features Syndicate, Dave Wasson, and C.J. Kettler. Supervising directors Clay Morrow and Adam Paloian. Lighthouse Studios, a Kilkenny-based branch of Mercury Filmworks and Cartoon Saloon, created the series, including stop-motion animation by Screen Novelties. At the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June 2020, it was announced that Ego Plum would be composing the series’ original score.
Reviews have been mostly good, with many praising the show’s gorgeous animation, clever ideas, lively characters, and endearing tunes. The second season features all of that and more, including the debut of several other much-anticipated playable characters and bosses from the game.
The Cuphead Season 3: Will There Be Another Season Arrive?
On February 18, 2022, the series was released everywhere in the world to mostly positive reviews. The visuals and overall tone were all praised by critics, just like they were in the game.
According to an early report from Animation Magazine, Netflix has renewed The Cuphead Show for a third season with 36 episodes on tap. If that’s the case, then The Cuphead Show ought to earn a third season of the same length as the first two, which is 12 episodes.
Netflix will pre-order multiple seasons of a show and then split them up into “parts,” or seasons, for viewing convenience. From the looks of The Cuphead Show, that’s the case. Also, Netflix included it in their Geeked Week lineup, so it must be popular (exactly like the game it’s based on).
Since Netflix has severely reduced some of their other animated material, it’s hard to picture them not renewing the show for at least one more season. Considering Netflix’s extensive animation library, I can see The Cuphead Show being a mainstay. I hope the streaming service purchases some seasonal shows.
