The most terrifying animals from Japan and Europe are combined in the new anime Undead Girl Murder Farce, resulting in a cultural clash.
The upcoming supernatural murder mystery project, which will premiere on July 5 on Crunchyroll, has a unique collection of creatures from many different cultures, with a primary concentration on Japanese and European mythology. The first two episodes thoroughly establish a world in which all of these monsters coexist, creating a perilous culture of prejudice and dread due to the conflict between them and humanity.
The series features some of the most well-known monsters ever. Vampires are a prime example; these mythical, blood-sucking creatures from Eastern Europe are frequently regarded as the epitome of the traditional monster. However, the first episode also features a number of demons with a Japanese focus, such as the Oni. These creatures are demonic Y’kai, which stand for misfortune and violence.
Additionally, a rare Japanese Ykai known as the Rokurokubi makes a brief appearance in this first episode. This horrifying being appears as a woman with a neck that can freely extend from her body. Even more monsters, like werewolves and zombies, are planned for the project.

About Undead Girl Murder Farce
Based on Yogo Aosaki’s novel series, the gothic detective show Undead Girl Murder Farce is set in a world filled with monsters. The story begins with Tsugaru Shinuchi, a fighter who is half human and half Oni, engaging in cage fights with monsters. Tsugaru has accepted that he will die and that his Oni side would eventually take control of his body.
But after running across a talking head being carried in a birdcage, he is given a new purpose. Along with her servant, this head, Aya Rindou, transports him to Europe, where the group quickly establishes a business as investigators. The plot follows them as they become involved in a murder among a vampire family that is reminiscent of the Knives Out mystery.
The anime will also include a number of literary figures in addition to traditional monsters. Among these symbols are historical figures like Jack the Ripper and Aleister Crowley as well as fictional characters like Sherlock Holmes, John Watson, James Moriarty, and Arsene Lupin. The project’s opening theme, “Crack-Crack-Crackle,” will be performed by CLASS:y. Shinichi Omata, well known for his work as director on the Kaguya-Sama: Love is War series, will direct it.
On July 5, 2023, Crunchyroll will offer the anime. Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 2 (July 8), Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 (July 6), and Helck (July 12) are three other noteworthy anime series that will be released during the Summer 2023 season.
