Tom Arnold Weight Loss: Has He Lost Above 50 Lbs? Tom Arnold tells PEOPLE that he is feeling better since he started his adventure to lose weight in January of this year. “I used to only look at my face in the mirror, which was hard enough, but now I face the whole thing,” Arnold says.
Now that Tom Arnold has recovered from his illness, he is able to show off the fruits of his labor.
After starting his weight loss journey in January, the 63-year-old comic has lost 75 pounds, according to a recent interview with PEOPLE. When it comes to food, Arnold adds, “Spontaneity was the enemy of success for me.”
“In the last year and a half, I’ve shot four movies in Rome. In Rome, 5-hour dinners, smoking, and drinking are just part of everyday life “The people he tells. “As the day would go and the fantastic cuisine would be presented to me, I’d reflect on how short life is and how unfortunate it would be were I to never again have the opportunity of eating such delicious, authentic Italian fare. ‘This food is the only companion I have!'”

The actor admits he would often search the kitchen late at night while putting his children to sleep.
“On days when I had to film, I may eat 6000 calories at 9 p.m. after a long day of eating nothing, even if I had grazed all day. the issue was that there was no structure “Arnold claims.
Arnold didn’t know he needed to modify his lifestyle until he had a health scare on January 17 — not only for himself but for his two young children, Quinn Sophie, 6, and Jax Copeland, 9.
For whatever reason, Roseanne Barr’s vision in her right eye went black as she was bathing her children. “I was giving the kids a bath and turned around to count to 10—it’s what I do to get my kids out of the bathtub—when suddenly my vision in my right eye went black,” she revealed.
However, even though some of his eyesight returned just before he went to bed, he called his ophthalmologist and had tests done anyhow. Arnold was admitted to UCLA Hospital for further testing when another doctor discovered he had suffered a mini-stroke.
In spite of doctors’ assurances, the actor admits that it was “frightening” as a 63-year-old single father of two young children (ages 9 and 6). “To top it all off, I suffered a catastrophic organ failure two years ago. However, I realized I needed to do more than just switch out my medicine because my self-care had been abysmal for the past few years.”
Charles D’Angelo promised to help Arnold four years earlier when they first met after he recovered from his mini-stroke and began his weight loss quest with him when he recovered. He credits D’Angelo for helping him realize that if he wanted a career in comedy, he had to put himself first. They spent a lot of time working on shifting the comedian’s perspective.
We all know what we should do, but the actor from True Lies argues, that “getting oneself to do it” is another matter. “It’s critical to have a support system that encourages you while also holding you accountable. Charles has been like that for me, too.”
Arnold wants to demonstrate to his children that he must take care of himself in order to be a good father, so he has begun to emphasize eating healthily throughout the day and “made exercise a habit.”
He says he works out on the elliptical for 30-60 minutes every day, no matter where he is. “We get up at 5:30 a.m. to get ready for our 7 a.m. school departure, so my day starts at home at 5:30 a.m. Even though it was difficult at first, the kids are now open and willing to talk about how important it is to their father to take care of his mental health. I no longer turn to food as an escape from my emotions or stress; instead, I have a strategy and stick to it.”
Arnold tells PEOPLE that he feels better about his body now that he’s dropped from 285 lbs. to 210 lbs. in six months.
“I look older because of my weight. My little children prevent me from being as active as I would like to be. It’s been five years, and I’m now ready to consider dating again. The human touch is something that everyone, including myself, is entitled to. On the other hand, I haven’t felt this confident on camera in a long time. Because I have lost a significant amount of weight since I starred in True Lies, I am now working with Arnold Schwarzenegger on a project.”
This has made me feel a lot better about my physical appearance,” Arnold says. “Moving better, having more energy, feeling more comfortable in my own skin, and getting better sleep have all made me feel like I’ve gained years in my life that I can spend with my children. For a long time, I could simply stare at my reflection in the mirror and that was difficult enough; now I have to face the full thing.”
