Tom Petty Death: Was He Alive In 2017?

Tom Petty Death: Was He Alive In 2017? According to a statement sent by his family and published on as well as a news release issued by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner on Friday, musician Tom Petty passed away as a result of an unintentional drug overdose caused by many drugs.

According to the family statement that was also shared on Petty’s Facebook page, the 66-year-old man had been ill with multiple conditions until he passed away on October 2.

“Despite this excruciating condition, he insisted on honoring his commitment to his fans and he traveled for 53 nights with a fractured hip and, as he did, it developed to a more significant injury.” His wife, Dana Petty, and daughter, Adria Petty, released a statement saying, “We believe the agony was simply unbearable and was the source of his over usage of medication.” On the day he died, Petty had learned that his hip had broken completely.
According to the autopsy report, the following substances were found in Petty’s body: the opioids fentanyl, oxycodone, acetyl fentanyl; the sedatives temazepam and alprazolam; and the antidepressant citalopram.

The method of death was ruled an accident, and the cause of death was listed as “multisystem organ failure due to resuscitated cardiopulmonary arrest due to combined drug toxicity,” according to the medical examiner’s report. It further stated that Petty had emphysema and atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries.
The FDA has not yet approved acetyl fentanyl for medicinal usage, and there have been no published studies assessing its safety for human consumption. They put it in the most restrictive category, Schedule I.

An epidemic involving the potent prescription opioid fentanyl has emerged across the country.
Over 20,000 of the over 64,000 drug-related deaths in the United States in 2016 were associated with synthetic opioids like fentanyl and its derivatives, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The music industry has been hit by fentanyl before. In 2016, Prince committed suicide by drug overdose at his Minnesota mansion.
Following a medical emergency at his Malibu home, Petty was rushed to UCLA Medical Center, where he later passed away. According to his manager at the time, he died of heart arrest.

His family released a statement saying, “We knew before the report was shared with us that he was prescribed numerous pain drugs for a myriad of conditions, including fentanyl patches, and we feel certain that this was, as the coroner ruled, a sad accident.” As a family, we understand this study has the potential to initiate a greater conversation about the opioid crisis; we believe this is a positive development and hold out hope that it will ultimately help save lives.

Many persons who overdose have previously had pain or were legitimately prescribed drugs for an ailment.
Petty’s history of substance abuse was something he had previously discussed. After the end of his 20-year marriage and the failure of an album, Petty turned to heroin in 1997, as he revealed in a biography published in 2015.
As Petty admitted in his book, “cold turkey” wasn’t an option. “That thing is nasty as f***,” he said.
