American actress, singer, model, and entrepreneur Tyra Banks is well-known in the media. Banks started out as a fashion model, but the television industry is where she really cashed in.
Banks entered this world on December 4th, 1973, in Inglewood, California. While still in high school, she started her career as a model. Four modeling agencies passed on her, but she got signed with L.A. Models. Then, at age 16, she moved to Milan after signing with Elite Model Management in Paris.
Her first time walking the runway was at the 1991 Paris Fashion Week, which was a full two years later. During her debut runway season, she was in 25 shows.

Banks’ initial modeling success opened doors for her and led to numerous TV guest spots. Starting with seven episodes of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Aire, she made her name on television as Will Smith’s longtime friend Jackie Ames.
Higher Learning, a drama directed by John Singleton, marked her film debut in 1994. Together with Lindsay Lohan, she played the role of Eve, a doll that comes to life, in the Disney film Life-Size (2000). Banks also made an appearance in the sequel to that film, Life-Size 2, which was released eight years after the original. She has also appeared in films such as Love Stinks (1999), Love & Basketball (2000), Coyote Ugly (2000), and Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009).
To launch Tyra Beauty, Banks attended Harvard Business School and earned a non-degree certificate in 2004. In 2015, she launched tyra.com, an online cosmetics store.
Ty Ty Baby Productions was also founded by Banks (now operating as Bankable Productions). Both her daytime talk show The Tyra Banks Show and the reality series America’s Next Top Model (which premiered in 2003) were produced by the same company (2005–2010). Banks paid just over $3 million in 2004 for a 5,740 square foot home in Beverly Hills. In 2016, she sold the Spanish Colonial with four bedrooms for $6.33 million. The Manhattan duplex that Banks currently owns is 7,000 square feet, and it comes equipped with a hair salon, a gym, and a mirrored dressing room.
The four-unit duplex in Battery Park City cost her $10.13 million when she made her purchase in 2009. In March of 2015, she put the apartment up for rent on the market for $50,000 a month. And then in the spring of 2017, Banks listed the property for $17.5 million; however, it has not yet been sold.
