What Kind of Cancer Does Dustin Diamond Have: Stand-up Comic, 44, Passes Away

What Kind of Cancer Does Dustin Diamond Have: Dustin Diamond, a former star of the television show “Saved by the Bell,” passed away earlier this month at the age of 44. Diamond was a self-proclaimed non-smoker. It had only been a few weeks since his diagnosis that he had stage 4 small cell lung cancer when he passed away. The loss of Diamond has placed a national spotlight on a developing trend that is troubling some oncology experts: the growth of tumors associated with secondhand smoking. Why is it that those who don’t smoke have a higher risk of developing lung cancer?

What Kind of Cancer Does Dustin Diamond Have?

Dustin Diamond, best known as his “Saved by the Bell” character, geeky character Screech, passed away on Monday at the age of 44. Diamond passed away only a few weeks after being diagnosed with stage 4 small cell carcinoma, a kind of cancer that most frequently affects the lungs but can also arise in the prostate or gastrointestinal system.

The actor’s management team said in a statement following his death, “In that time, it managed to spread fast throughout his system; the only mercy it demonstrated was its severe and abrupt execution.” There was no pain for Dustin. He didn’t have to wallow in his own misery. We appreciate it very much. Erin Schenk, MD, Ph.D., of the University of Colorado Cancer Center, explains that small cell carcinoma is a reminder of how much more work has to be done in the battle against disease because it is rare cancer that typically grows quickly and has no related screening technique.

Unfortunately, even in 2021, some people will still die prematurely from cancer, says Schenk, who is also an assistant professor in the Division of Medical Oncology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Intense discomfort all over Diamond’s body on January 12 led doctors to admit him to the hospital, an indication that the disease had spread from its original location, as Schenk explains.

It’s very uncommon for tumors to spread painlessly to other organs before causing symptoms.

For how long has Dustin Diamond been battling cancer?

After being taken to the hospital over the course of the weekend of January 8, Diamond received the news that she had cancer. Dan Block, a close friend of Diamond’s, confirmed that Diamond has cancer from The Sun. According to an exclusive source that Block obtained, the actor was hesitant to undergo treatment sooner because he was afraid that others would make fun of the tumor that was located on his neck. On January 14, Block gave an interview with The Sun in which he stated, “Right now, we don’t know how serious it is or where it has gone.”

“I wanted to say something because there are people out there claiming it’s a fraud — it’s not a hoax, Dustin is sick,” the speaker said. “It’s not a hoax, Dustin is sick.”
