Where is Big Meech Now: Why Was Big Meech Sent to Prison?

Where is Big Meech Now: The September 26th, 2021 premiere of Black Mafia Family (BMF) marked the first episode of a new crime drama on Starz. With Snoop Dogg (who needs no introduction) playing a literal pastor and executive producer Curtis Jackson (who we know as Grammy-winning rapper 50 Cent) engaged, the show’s popularity seemed guaranteed.

The show is based on a true story, chronicling the rise of a drug lord dynasty led by two brothers who grew up in Detroit. That adds a new layer of intrigue to the situation. One of the most notorious drug trafficking and money-laundering operations in the United States was created in the 1980s by Demetrius Flenory and his brother Terry, also known by their aliases, “Big Meech” and “Southwest T,” respectively.

You can’t make this stuff up: “Lil Meech,” aka Demetrius Flenory Jr., plays the role of his kingpin father, “Big Meech,” played by Da’Vinchi. Great to see that Big Meech’s son, now 21 years old, is a talented rapper and actor (50 Cent encouraged him to pursue acting when he was just 17), but where is Big Meech these days?

It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to you that Big Meech is currently serving time at an Oregon jail following his and Southwest T’s arrest in 2005. After all, BMF is about Big Meech’s enormous drug and money-laundering business, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Big Meech is currently serving time there. In addition to their enormous drug ring, the brothers formed the record label BMF Entertainment in the year 2000, and Big Meech was a co-founder of JUICE Magazine. Both of these ventures are still active today.

The brothers were successful in concealing their illicit earnings through the use of both of these businesses as fronts for their illicit activities. In order to put things into perspective, it is said by The Detroit News that the cocaine network generated roughly $270 million in sales and gave employment to more than 500 people. It seems unfathomable that it all started with the brothers selling small quantities of cocaine when they were still in high school, which is where it all began for them.
