There are some huge surprises in store for the Dutton family coming up in Yellowstone Season 5, and the countdown is finally beginning to move from months to weeks. The Duttons on the flagship series are ascending to the governor’s office as the Yellowstone universe grows with other spin-offs, and the drama will only get more intense from there.
Yellowstone Season 5 will continue up after the gory events of Season 4’s finale, in which Beth (Kelly Reilly), the ranch’s true mastermind and adopted brother of Jamie (Wes Bentley), tricked Jamie into killing his biological father, Garrett (Will Patton). Beth believed Garrett had it coming once it was discovered that he had authorized the attempted assassinations of John (Kevin Costner), Beth, and Kayce (Luke Grimes) in Season 3.
Yellowstone Season 5 Plot
John Dutton wins the governor’s race, according to the full-length Yellowstone Season 5 trailer, and the Dutton family is now on their way to Helena. But it’s evident that it won’t be simple as John “has no friends in the building” and it appears as if he’ll be at odds with Jacki Weaver’s Caroline Warner.
It appears that Jamie has rejoined the group and is now his father’s political advisor, but it doesn’t seem like everything is going smoothly between them. Beth is assuming leadership in the meantime as chief of staff, and if that necessitates engaging in unsavory behavior with the family’s numerous foes, then be it.
On Sunday, November 13, Yellowstone will make its return to Paramount Network for Season 5 with a special two-hour event. Subsequent episodes will air on a weekly basis. The 14 episodes in Season 5 will be split into two groups of seven episodes each. Although this is the biggest season to date, it’s not yet known how long the midseason break will last.
Executive producer David C. Glasser just provided a little teaser on what to look forward to in the upcoming season. According to Glasser of TV Insider, “Episode 1 will immediately startle everyone – where our story starts and what has transpired.”
Yellowstone Season 5 Cast
Season 5 will bring both seasoned and fresh faces to the ranch. Josh Lucas will make his first appearance as young John Dutton since Season 3; he’ll be accompanied by Kyle Red Silverstein as young Rip and Beth, suggesting that there will be a lot of flashback scenes.
Mo Brings Plenty and Wendy Moniz are elevated to series regulars as Thomas Rainwater’s (Gil Birmingham) right-hand man Mo and former governor Lynelle Perry, respectively. Jacki Weaver also makes a comeback as the Duttons’ newest business adversary, Market Equities CEO Caroline Warner.
Four new characters will also be arriving in Yellowstone. Young cowboy Rowdy, played by Kai Caster, will be featured. Abby is the name of the musician played by Lainey Wilson. Clara Brewer, a new assistant for one of the Duttons, will be played by Lilli Kai (we feel bad for her already). Additionally, Dawn Olivieri from 1883 joins the cast as Sarah Atwood, a newbie to Montana who is said to as a “corporate shark” in the official character description.
Forrie J. Smith, Denim Richards, Ian Bohen, Ryan Bingham, and Jen Landon as Teeter—who has been elevated to series regular—will all be returning along with the rest of the bunkhouse.
In addition, Jefferson White, who plays Jimmy, and Kathryn Kelly, who plays Emily, Emily’s fiancée, have both been elevated to series regular status. The reformed problem magnet will therefore be staying somewhere, despite having selected the Four Sixes over Yellowstone.
Behind The Scenes
Season 5’s filming got underway in the summer. On social media, the cast members frequently shared photos of the stunning locales where movies were shot, such as this one posted by Cole Hauser.
Although tomorrow is never guaranteed in the Wild West, the image and his remark about Season 5 appear to put an end to any suspicions that he won’t be returning to the program.
Yellowstone Season 5 Trailer
An ominous teaser trailer for Season 5 was presented during the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, containing the first glimpse of Season 5. As we see pictures of the Duttons, John Dutton states in a voiceover, “We’ll show the world who we are and what we do.”
The teaser then promises that “everything will be revealed” before revealing that the Nov. 13 debut would last for two hours.
Kayce has been on a difficult spiritual journey that gave him a glimpse of two paths, which complicates Beth’s ambition for world/Montana dominance. He informed Monica (Kelsey Asbille) that at least one of those options would be “the end of us.” Whatever that means, it can’t be good, and the lengthy wait for Season 5 is made all the more difficult.
