Since its premiere on July 1, “Young Royals,” a Netflix Original, combines the royal intrigue of “The Crown” with typical teen dramas, the combination has aroused curiosity. Because international productions are sometimes viewed as uncommercial in the United States, the series has received mixed reviews; however, Joyce Slaton of Common Sense Media praised it highly: “Naturalistic and gripping, this Swedish import transcends the cliché it could have been and becomes something more unusual: a teen drama that feels like it could be telling a true story.”

However, shows have a tendency now to take longer breaks between seasons as well, meaning “Young Royals” could take some more time to get made if schedules work out that way. At worst, “Young Royals” could come back in summer 2023. Hopefully, Wilhelm, Simon, and August will return to Netflix sooner than two years from now.
Young Royals Season 2 Plot
The title character is Prince Wilhelm of Sweden (Edvin Ryding), a juvenile king whose penchant to get into trouble, including a viral fistfight, results in his being sent to boarding school against his will. The “Wille”-nicknamed prince must navigate his new surroundings while also juggling royal obligations and an unexpected crush for his classmate Simon (Omar Rudberg).
We may expect the second season to continue the emotional aftermath of Season 1’s events, such as Crown Prince Erik’s death and Wilhelm and Simon’s breakup after the release of their sex tape. This season, Wille, like Audrey Hepburn in “Roman Holiday,” prioritized duty over love, but that might alter if the couple still has feelings for one another.
Because Wilhelm is now the successor to the kingdom as a result of Erik’s demise, there will undoubtedly be more storylines in the upcoming season. Wilhelm’s royal responsibilities will become even more prominent in his life. The fate of Wilhelm and the rest of the characters will be revealed when Season 2 hopefully arrives soon.
Young Royals Season 2 Cast: Who Will Be In It?
If anyone is guaranteed to return in Young Royals season two, it’s Edvin Ryding in the role of Prince Wilhelm. Expect him to be joined by the following:
• Omar Rudberg as Simon
• Malte Gårdinger as August
• Frida Argento as Sara
• Nikita Uggla as Felice
• Pernilla August as Queen Kristina of Sweden
• Nathalie Varli as Madison
• Carmen Gloria Pérez as Linda
This would include Edvin Ryding as Prince Wilhelm, popstar Omar Rudberg as Simon Eriksson, Malte Grdinger as Wilhelm’s second cousin August af Arnas, Frida Argento as Sara Eriksson, Nikita Uggla as Felice Ehrencrona, Pernilla August as Queen Kristina of Sweden, the mother of Wilhelm and Erik, and Ingela Olsson as Hillerska Headmistress Anette Lil
Prince Erik, the Crown Prince and Wilhelm’s brother, tragically passed away during the first season, therefore Ivar Forsling, who portrayed him, is presumably not returning. If he does return, it will most likely be in the form of flashbacks or distinct appearances of other characters.
Young Royals Season 2 Release Date
Unfortunately, as of April 2022, no release date for the second season has been confirmed.
Nevertheless, maybe it won’t be too long before we get any news, given that production began in February 2022. Using this beautiful video, Netflix teased fans with the announcement of the new release.
If the second season is anything like the first, only six episodes will be filmed, and no special effects will be added in post-production (these are schoolchildren, not superheroes).
We anticipate the show to premiere around the end of the year, with a rough estimate of September/October. We’re only making educated assumptions, so don’t hold us to them!
Keep checking back, and we’ll provide updates as soon as we have more information.
Young Royals Season 2 Spoilers
Have you ever wondered what might occur if you combined Élite and The Crown with a substantial amount of Skam, the Nordic counterpart of Skins? Young Royals, Netflix’s newest teen craze, was created by Lisa Ambjörn, Lars Beckung, and Camilla Holter although we didn’t think it was possible.
A guy divided between love and duty is the protagonist of this engrossing LGBTQ+ love story.
Prince Wilhelm entered Hillerska Boarding School in the first season, and by the end of the episodes, he was forced to choose between the crown and his love for Simon, a student from a non-royal family.
With such a cliffhanger, Netflix had no choice but to renew the program, and they have officially confirmed Young Royals will indeed return for a second season.
Here is everything you need to know about Young Royals season two now that we are aware of the official renewal.
