Virgin River is one of the most popular Netflix series, and to their surprise, there will be a lot more of it in the future. Virgin River’s fifth and sixth seasons will be released in the autumn of 2023.
It makes sense for Netflix to want to keep broadcasting the renowned romantic drama series for as long as possible. We all got our wish after the Mel Monroe actor recently expressed her hope that the program would be revived for a sixth season.
Virgin River Season 6: Is It Renewed?
Netflix is returning to Virgin River. During its first-ever upfront presentation on Wednesday in New York, the streaming giant announced that the soap drama starring Martin Henderson and Alexandra Breckenridge would return for a sixth season.

The fifth season of Virgin River will premiere in the fall on the main streaming service, which has not yet been determined, at the same time as the extension’s announcement. The drama based on the same-titled novels by Robyn Carr has performed well, according to internal measurements from Netflix. (Like other broadcasters, this one does not provide regular viewership statistics.)

Patrick Sean Smith took over as showrunner for the fifth season from Sue Tenney, who oversaw the previous four seasons of the drama with a Hallmark-like feel. Season five’s filming is already complete. Virgin River was last renewed in September 2021, when Netflix decided to bring up the breakout hit for two additional seasons (covering its fourth and fifth).
Virgin River is one of the few Hallmark-style dramas the streaming behemoth has found success with in its quest to have something for everyone. Others include Sweet Magnolias, Northern Rescue, and the anthology series Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings, which Smith previously oversaw.
