Early Professional Life Of Betty White
Betty White graduated from high school in 1939, the first year of the Second World War. Despite the fact that the United States wouldn’t enter the battle for several years, White immediately after graduating from college found work as an actress and model.
But finally, the war caught up with America, and White’s early success as an actress came to an end because she prioritized the interests of her country before her own. She volunteered for the American Women’s Volunteer Service and assisted in transporting military supplies across California.
After the war, Betty White made an effort to get into the Los Angeles film industry, but all the major studios turned her down. After being told she wasn’t photogenic enough, she resorted to the radio industry.
White quickly landed appearances on important radio shows at the time and made a decent career as a radio artist. She ultimately received the radio program The Betty White Show.
When Betty White and Al Jarvis co-hosted the 1949 television program Hollywood on Television, it was their big break. After Jarvis left the show in 1952, Betty White took over as the main host.
