The daughter of Richard Williams and Oracene Price, Venus Ebony Starr Williams was born on June 17, 1980, in Lynwood, California. Williams family relocated from Compton, California, to West Palm Beach, Florida, when Venus was ten so that she and her sister Serena could train at Rick Macci’s tennis academy.
When Venus Williams was 11 years old, her father, Richard Williams, took her and her sister Serena out of the national junior tennis championships.
