Jennifer Hudson and Common appear to be ready to declare their relationship. During his Monday appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” the Grammy-winning rapper is rumoured to talk about his romantic life.
Rumors have persisted for months that the rapper and actor, 51, is dating the EGOT winner, 42. An Instagram video from Sunday shows Hudson playful pressuring Common to talk about his dating life, which is taken from the next episode.

“Let’s get down to business, Mr. Common,” Hudson says. “I’m a host, and so I have to ask you this question because everybody always wants to know this. Are you dating anyone?”
The audience goes wild when they see the Oscar winner chuckle awkwardly. “So, yes,” he comments. “And I’m in a relationship that is (with) one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever met in life.”
Common then continues to make it clear he’s talking about Hudson: “She’s smart. She loves God. She has something real down to earth about her. She’s talented. But I set my standard kind of high because she had to have an EGOT. She had to win an Oscar on her first movie. I set my standard high. She had to get her own talk show.”
After the clip ends, Hudson says, “Oh, OK,” while laughing jokingly. In the caption, “The Jennifer Hudson Show” hinted at Hudson’s possible answer during Monday’s show: “This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for!”
Though they have been mum about their romance, Common gushed about the talk show host in June when asked about it on “Today” with presenter Chris Matthews.
“She’s a Chicagoan, this amazing human being — I’ve always been inspired by her,” he gushed. “She’s one of the most beautiful people I ever met on the planet. Incredible heart, and she’s just dope, man.”
Many fans were happy for the couple, but some were suspicious, citing the rapper’s past relationships as proof of his “commitment issues,” to use one commenter’s term.
“So wack! I’m sure he has dated other women who were just as talented and said the same thing,” another user wrote. “I lost hope in him. I don’t like men who waste women’s time.”
Many people have speculated that Common is seeing Tiffany Haddish, Taraji P. Henson (from “The Colour Purple”), or sports icon Serena Williams. Although Haddish and Common broke up in 2021, she insisted that the breakup “wasn’t mutual.”
A lovely photo shows Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco kissing, confirming their romance. In that same year, the comedian took exception to Common’s “Hollywood Unlocked with Jason Lee Uncensored” interview, where he referred to the split as “mutual” and praised Haddish as “one of the best people I’ve met in life.”
“It was more him saying, ‘I think this relationship has run its course,'” she told The Washington Post last year. “And I was like, ‘Okay. Like you gonna be a 50-year-old single man. Okay?’” Her relationship with Common, she continued, was “the healthiest, the funnest relationship I’ve ever had.”
