Many People Were Shot In Northeast Washington During A Homicide Victim’s Funeral

On Tuesday afternoon in Northeast District of Columbia, Benning Road was the scene of a funeral for a person who had been murdered. According to the police, four persons were shot after the funeral.

The Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia is now on the scene of a shooting that occurred close to Stewart Funeral Home in the 4000 block of Benning Road NE. Robert Contee, the Commissioner of Police of the District of Columbia, stated that the incident took place as the funeral was being let out.

At around 12:17 p.m., a Metropolitan Police Department officer who had been requested to be stationed at the burial by the family reported hearing sounds consistent with gunshots.

The funeral was over by midday, and everyone began to leave. While the funeral of a homicide victim is being held, the Metropolitan Police Department customarily lends its services to the victim’s family.

It has been confirmed by Contee that there were four people shot, and one adult male has been pronounced dead. Additionally, he believes that numerous individuals appear to have been the intended targets of the attack.

According to Chief Contee, the Metropolitan Police Department is pleading for the community’s assistance and asking anyone who may have information to contact the police at (202) 727-9099 or send an anonymous report to the number 50411.

Because of police action, the intersections of 41st and Benning Rd NE and 36th and Blaine Rd NE are both closed.
