17 People Are Arrested After California Gurdwara Shootings With Machine Guns And Ak-47s

In a series of raids conducted at over 20 locations, police in California have made 17 arrests in relation to a string of shootings that have occurred in Gurdwaras in Stockton, Sacramento, and other cities. They have also seized weapons like an AK-47, handguns, and at least one machine gun.

According to a statement made by California Attorney General Rob Bonta, Yuba City Police Chief Brian Baker, and Sutter County District Attorney Jennifer Dupre on Sunday, agents executed search warrants at 20 locations in Northern California during a massive operation that resulted in the arrest of 17 people for felonies, the majority of whom were members of the local Sikh community.

Two of the people detained are mafia members who are “wanted on a number of murders” in India, according to Dupre, who said this during a press conference.

According to the California Attorney General, the detained individuals are members of opposing criminal organizations that are thought to be behind a number of shootings and violent crimes in the counties of Sutter, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Solano, Yolo, and Merced, including five attempted murders.

Both the shooting that occurred on March 23, 2023, at a Sikh temple in Sacramento, and the mass shooting that occurred on August 27, 2022, both allegedly involved members of these groups.

According to a news statement, law enforcement was able to stop two other shootings while conducting their investigation.

According to California Attorney General Rob Bonta, “Today, California is safer thanks to collaboration, determination, and prompt action by DOJ agents and our law enforcement partners in Sutter County.”

“No family ever needs to be concerned about drive-by shootings or other types of gun violence in the areas where their kids live and play. We’re removing guns off the streets as a result of this collaborative law enforcement effort, and we’re also locking up alleged gang members and their accomplices,” he claimed.
