After Being Accused Of Killing Her 11-year-old Son In Horsham, Pennsylvania, The Mother Fled To New Jersey

A mother is suspected of killing her 11-year-old son in Horsham, Pennsylvania, and then running away to the coast of New Jersey.

According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Ruth DiRienzo-Whitehead, 50, is accused with first-degree murder in connection with the passing of Matthew Whitehead.

DiRienzo-Whitehead allegedly admitted to detectives that her son had been “crying off and on all day over the family’s financial difficulties.”

She allegedly confessed to detectives that she strangled her baby with her husband’s belt while he slept because she didn’t want him to grow up “with these struggles.”

Strain requires time. At a news conference on Wednesday, District Attorney Kevin Steele stated that this was a horrible murder of a little youngster.

The boy’s father discovered him dead at the family’s residence in the 500 block of Privet Road shortly after 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

The D.A.’s office reported that an autopsy proved Matthew had been strangled.

After killing her son, approximately 9:30 p.m. on Monday, according to investigators, DiRienzo-Whitehead took the family SUV to Cape May, New Jersey.

According to authorities, she drove the car off Beach Avenue into the water, and when it was no longer possible to drive it, she walked to Wildwood Crest.

In that location, DiRienzo-Whitehead was arrested.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Wildwood Crest, authorities were searching for DiRienzo-Whitehead on Tuesday morning after finding her SUV.
