After The Basketball Rolls Onto A Neighbor’s Yard In North Carolina, A 6-year-old Girl And Two Adults Are Shot

After a basketball rolled into a man’s yard in Gastonia, North Carolina, he allegedly opened fire on them, resulting in the shooting of two adults and one child. The Gaston County Police Department reported that as of Wednesday, the suspect, Robert Louis Singletary, was still at large.

When Gaston police received a complaint about a man discharging a gun outside residences in his area on Tuesday at 7:44 p.m., the incident started to take place. It was discovered that Singletary, 24, of Gastonia, North Carolina, was the shooter.

During the shooting rampage, a man and his child were both badly injured and brought to a hospital in Charlotte. One adult woman had a light wound from a gunshot, while a second male was shot but not hurt.

On four counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and one count of having a firearm while a felon, detectives were able to obtain warrants for Singletary.

A $1,000 reward is being offered by the police department in exchange for information that supports the ongoing investigation. According to the police agency, Singletary should be treated as armed and dangerous because he was last spotted with a gun.

In a press release, Gaston Police Chief Stephen M. Zill said that his department has joined forces with the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force to assistance in the hunt for Singletary.

This kind of violence “will not stand,” Zill said to the residents of Gaston County.

William White and his 6-year-old daughter, who talked with CBS News station WBTV, have been named as two of the victims. The youngster, whose identity is being kept out of concern for her safety, stated, “The bullet came back and went in my cheek.”

She added, “I want him to stay in jail forever.

It was shocking, according to a neighbor who saw the shooting.

According to Jonathan Robertson of WBTV, “they were playing basketball when a ball rolled into his yard and they went to go and get it.” It was simply wild.

This incident is the most recent instance of how common mistakes have resulted in violent consequences, reigniting discussions over stand-your-ground regulations.

A white man shot a Black teenager this week after he rang the doorbell of his Kansas City home, claiming self-defense, while a homeowner in upstate New York fatally shot a 20-year-old woman looking for a friend’s house after she went to the wrong location.
