Early on Sunday morning in Orlando, three people—including a young child—were shot and murdered in what investigators believe to be a domestic violence episode. The alleged shooter also perished.
The incident took place in Orlando’s Parramore neighborhood at about 2:25 a.m. local time, according to a statement from the Orlando Police Department. According to the statement, officers first responded to a report of domestic violence and arrived at the site shortly after hearing shots fired inside the house.
The police agency reported that the suspect “came out of the residence and fired at the cops, who returned fire.” The suspect was subsequently taken to a hospital where his death was declared.
When officers entered the house, they discovered two adults and one child with gunshot wounds, according to Orlando Police. The police department reported that the youngster was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead, adding that both of the adult victims had also died.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will independently evaluate the event, as it does with every officer-involved shooting, the police department stated.
The State Attorney’s office will then do the same. Orlando Police will also carry out their own internal inquiry. According to the police agency, footage from the two responding officers’ body-worn cameras will be made public within the next 30 days.
At a press conference conducted roughly three hours after the incident, Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith omitted mentioning the victims’ names or ages. Smith informed the media that it was not yet known if the alleged shooter had a criminal past.
